宮大工は、神社や寺院など日本の伝統木造建築を専門とする熟練の大工です。
釘を使わない「木組み」技術や精巧な彫刻を駆使し、文化財の修復や保存にも貢献しています。
しかし、全国で約100人程度とされ、現在では非常に希少な存在です。
Miyadaiku are skilled carpenters who specialize in traditional Japanese wooden architecture, such as shrines and temples. They master techniques like "Kigumi"--a method of interlocking wood without using nails--and create intricate carvings, contributing to the restoration and preservation of cultural heritage. However, with only around 100 craftsmen remaining nationwide, they have become an extremely rare and valuable presence today.
無垢材
無垢材とは、接着剤や積層加工を施さず、天然の丸太から直接切り出された純粋な木材のことです。合板や集成材などの加工木材とは異なり、木本来の木目や色合い、そして強度をそのまま保っています。
無垢材は、自然な質感や香りを持ち、さらに湿度調整機能も兼ね備えているため、室内環境を快適に保つ効果があります。また、年月とともに色味や風合いが深まり、美しく経年変化するのも大きな魅力です。これらの特性から、無垢材は日本建築やインテリアデザインにおいて高く評価されています。
What is "Muku-zai" (Solid Wood)?
Muku-zai refers to solid wood cut directly from natural logs, without adhesives or layering. Unlike engineered wood, it maintains the natural grain, color, and strength of the tree. Its organic texture, ability to regulate humidity, and the way it ages beautifully over time make it highly valued in Japanese architecture and interior design.
